LOOK !!
Soon you’ll
be sitting in the audience, it’s a Sunday afternoon, there’s
not an empty seat in the house. This is Broadway, the world’s 2nd greatest
stage for live entertainment. You’re in
the heartbeat of New York City.
Look

Walk around midtown anytime, I’ll guarantee you someone today,
tonight, tomorrow, anytime peoples mouths are moving, everyone is chewing on
something in New York City. If people aren't chewing, their wiping their mouths
having just finished lunch or dinner at one of the cities restaurants. Take notice of
the folks in the theater district, if they seem to be in a hurry, that’s because
they didn’t want to leave behind a plate with food left on it, you can’t
blame them, the foods good in NYC! I know, I’m one of them.
Look

Wednesday morning you have a ticket to attend a morning talk show
taped live Monday through Friday in a studio near Lincoln Center. And! Next
month you will be flying to the west coast for a week, you’ve been randomly
selected to sit in the audience during a live taping of a popular sitcom, and participate in a
new reality show, (lucky you).
Look!
I’m curious, what’s your perception of all this? beyond and behind the bright light of the
spotlights, the tossed scripts and playbills, the booms, the blinking lights on
cameras, stagehands, wrappers with half eaten bagels, rolls, and breakfast
sandwiches, and free airfare. the voice you hear from somewhere will be the voice of the director.
Look!
Those people dressed in
jeans, shorts, converse, keds, corduroys and flannels, standing and sitting
stage right, and stage left, strolling back and forth, I don’t think they
really care who you are. They’ll be glad you came; but they all have a job to
do.
Look
On the sidewalk, one, two more, and one more will walk by,
their mouths moving, what the hell are they all eating?
Look
Your perception of all this restlessness creates a feeling of
excitement and joy. Unlike a traditional
curriculum of academia the making of entertainment can be quite informal or
formal depending on your perception, expectations, your mood at the time and your patience, understanding, and knowledge of the demands that are
required to make your entertainment worth your time and money, today, tonight,
tomorrow, and always.
Look
Do you really know these people? The chances are good that you probably don’t! But
to you, it seems that way! It feels good to you, you have make-believe friends,
and that feels good. That is good! This
helps to create intrigue / suspense / comedy / to television / film / and Broadway.
After the show, let them know you appreciate how hard they all
tried making you feel good.
Look, I believe
All of these actors
should get to know you! Not only a chosen few, because, with out you, who are
they, anyway?
Don’t you agree!

Best of luck, enjoy the show.
I’ll see some of you @ the show!
Tim
